Yuksom is the first capital of Sikkim. In Sikkimese, the word Yuksom means the meeting place of three lamas. It is the quietest town in West Sikkim, just 41 km from Pelling. Yuksom height 6000 ft. Phamrong Waterfalls can be seen from Dubdi Monastery. Although Kanchenjunga could not be seen from Yuksum, Pandim and Kabru have seen out of the gaps of the two hills. How to Reach Yuksum.
The nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri which is about 150 km from Yuksom. From New Jalpaiguri, you could book a car. It takes around 7 hours to reach in Yuksom via Jorethang. Or from Siliguri or New Jalpaiguri to Geyzing and from Geyzing using shared or private jeeps to reach Yuksom. But it’d be difficult to find a shared car from Geyzing after 1 pm. The road to Yuksom is poorly lit and it’s not advisable to travel after sunset.
